LATAM Boeing 767 Suffers Engine Vibrations At Recife


On May 18th, A LATAM Brasil Boeing 767-300 — registration PT-MSO performing flight JJ-4779 from Recife,PE to Sao Paulo,SP (Brazil) —  suffers an excessive Engine vibration and  had to return to Recife after takeoff.

According to report, Flight JJ-4779 is a regularly scheduled commercial flight from Recife Airport to Sao Paulo– Guarulhos. Moreso,  LATAM Airlines Brasil often operates a Boeing 767-300 on the three-hour route. Although, sometimes, an A321 flies this route.

However, on May 18th, the aircraft flying that route suffered an excessive  engine vibrations immediately  after takeoff per the Aviation Herald. On the climb out, the crew faced a massive  vibrations on the right-hand engine,for safety concerns, The pilots then decided to return to Recife. About 25 minutes after takeoff, the aircraft was back on the ground.

A bird strike is being suspected as cause of this incident. The aircraft then safely returned to Recife.

Amid COVID-19 crisis,the Brazilian Airline  had no option than to canceled the flight . A message on the airline’s website state that 

Due to an additional technical check-up to the aircraft to guarantee the safety of your trip, we have canceled your flight. Check your alternatives as a passenger and choose the one that best fits your needs. We apologize for the inconvenience.

There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident.
