The Maldives has seen an increase in tourism arrivals in recent months, with over 330,000 foreign visitors arriving between January and March, citing local media citing the Ministry of Tourism.
Information from the Ministry of Tourism showed that 109,585 tourists arrived in March, up from 96,882 tourist arrivals in February, and 92,103 tourist arrivals in January. A further 35,358 tourists have arrived in the country in the first 10 days of April.
The daily average for tourism arrivals has steadily increased from 2,971 visitors in January to 3,460 in February, and 3,535 in March. 23% of the tourists came from India and 21% came from Russia.
Tourism in the Maldives was briefly closed last year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened on July 15, 2020.
The Maldives is known for its clear emerald waters, beautiful beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, and of course, luxurious overwater bungalows.
