MSC Cruises To Become First Cruise Line To Restart In U.K.
MSC Virtuosa, the latest flagship of MSC Cruises, has arrived in Southampton and is preparing to welcome guests as the first cruise line to resume operations there. MSC Virtuosa begins its maiden voyage to the British Isles on May 20. It is the latest and most innovative ship in the MSC Cruises fleet.
On MSC Virtuosa’s return, guests will have the option to select three- or four-night mini cruises starting May 20, followed by seven-night cruises beginning June 5. The week-long sailings make port calls at the picturesque Isle of Portland, Northern Ireland, and Belfast, the cultural capital of Northern Ireland. Additional embarkation ports include Liverpool and Greenock, outside Glasgow, Scotland, on top of Southampton.
The 19-deck MSC Virtuosa will offer its British guests world-class entertainment, fine dining restaurants, relaxing bars and lounges, boutique shopping, spas and gyms, an aquapark, and clubs for toddlers to teenagers. Among the highlights of the ship is its 367-foot promenade with a LED skydome, the social centre and hub of the vessel.
A new MSC Starship Club is launching on MSC Virtuosa, creating the world’s first futuristic, immersive experience at sea. MSC Starship Club will feature a humanoid robot bartender, Rob, who will make a galactic selection of cocktails for guests.
MSC Virtuosa will spend the summer at ABP Southampton, where MSC Cruises announced an extensive partnership. Initially, the ship will depart from City Cruise Terminal, then embark guests from the newly-named Horizon Cruise Terminal once it opens.
MSC Virtuosa will join MSC Cruises’ two other ships already operating in the Mediterranean: MSC Seaside, which sailed its maiden voyage last week, and MSC Grandiosa, which has been sailing there since August 2020. Every ship must follow the same health and safety protocols, including universal screening during embarkation.
