Aurora Expeditions has presented an updated health and safety program in preparation for resuming expedition cruising. The airline company, according to a press release, has strengthened its COVID-19 policy so that guests are "able to cruise in the safest, most enjoyable manner." The health and safety policy now includes mandatory vaccination prior to embarking on any of Aurora Expeditions\u2019 voyages \u2013 with the policy applying to all guests, crew and expedition team members. \u201cAurora Expeditions is excited about the world emerging from COVID-19 and is looking forward to the resumption of cruising and returning to doing what we do best \u2013 small ship expeditions \u2013 in our 30th year of operation,\u201d commented Monique Ponfoort, CEO of Aurora Expeditions. She stated that the health and safety of the cruise line\u2019s guests, staff and crew remain Aurora Expeditions\u2019 \u201cnumber one priority.\u201d \u201c(W)e are committed to providing the best opportunity for our guests to fully enjoy the small ship expedition experience offered with Aurora Expeditions \u2026 Our health and safety program has been strengthened and will be precisely followed, including the highest level of pre-cruising preventative measures, the capability for PCR testing onboard if required, and a robust response plan and protocols onboard designed to bring peace of mind to all of our guests and crew,\u201d Ponfoort noted. According to the press release, along with 100-percent fully vaccinated ships, onboard features strengthening safety include: Hundred-percent fresh air onboard: Aurora Expeditions\u2019 ships have modern systems that provide 100-percent fresh air in every cabin \u2013 guest and crew. There is no recirculation of air throughout its vessels; Medical team and fully equipped medical center: An emergency medical team including a doctor and a nurse with current training in public health protocols, outbreak prevention and management protocols will be aboard every voyage; PCR testing: A key component of Aurora\u2019s health and safety program is the inclusion of rapid on-site PCR testing machines onboard. This enables Aurora Expeditions to carry out onboard PCR testing of guests and crew; Off-ship experiences: As part of Aurora Expeditions\u2019 "continued commitment to providing expedition experiences in the safest and most enjoyable way possible," guests will be accompanied by a medic in each landing.
