Disneyland delays its reopening date beyond July 17


Disney has postponed the reopening of its theme parks in Anaheim, Califonia. until the necessary governmental approvals have been finalized.

Disney (DIS) did not give a new reopening date for the Disneyland Resort.

Recall that, About two weeks ago, the company announced plans to reopen Disneyland and Disney California Adventure on July 17, implementing health safety protocols to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Disney employees had expressed concern that the rising number of Covid-19 cases in California made returning to work dangerous.

In a statement, Disney said California indicated it wouldn’t issue reopening guidelines for theme parks until “sometime after July 4.”

“Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials,” Disney said. “Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date.”

Shopping, dining, and entertainment complex Downtown Disney will still reopen as planned on July 9.
