A waterfront hotel is pleased to welcome visitors again after reopening its restaurant, spa, and hair salon for the first time following the lockdown.
Barnsdale Hall Hotel in Rutland also announced that it is now officially pet-friendly, with pooches allowed on the hotel grounds and on the sun terrace, where guests can already enjoy food and drinks at the hotel restaurant.
Open daily from 11 am until 7 pm, and a terrace is a place where family and friends get together to relax or socialise, whether over coffee or three-course lunch and cocktails in the sun.
Tables on the terrace offer views of Rutland Water and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
As part of its re-opening, the restaurant at the hotel has introduced a new menu using high-quality, season ingredients.
The menu includes options such as chicken and pancetta Caesar salad and chicken shashlik with peas and fennel.
The hotel’s leisure club has reopened to members, who can make the most of the tennis courts, swimming pool, gym and 18-hole crazy golf course.
Since the pandemic, an on-site hair salon, which is a new addition to the hotel, is taking bookings. Anyone looking for some relaxation can book into the recently reopened spa, where an extensive list of ESPA treatments is available.
The rest of the hotel – which has recently been purchased by new owners – is currently undergoing a large-scale refurbishment, which will see updates to the main hall, reception, restaurant, bar and bedrooms.
The new owners, the Patel family, who co-founded the Cofresh snack foods empire, hope that the hotel will reopen to overnight guests – and as a venue for weddings – on May 17, in line with government guidelines.
Ahead of this, the hotel, which employs about 80 people on average, will actively recruit staff for several new positions.
John Higham, director and general manager of the hotel, said: “At Barnsdale Hall Hotel, we are blessed with both a stunning location and a property that holds enormous potential.
“With new owners on board who recognise this potential and who are committed to completely reimagining the hotel’s offering, it is an exciting time for us, and I believe the result of this work and regeneration will see Barnsdale Hall become a jewel in the crown of Rutland’s hospitality scene.
“As lockdown eases, we are delighted that guests can once again enjoy our alfresco dining and facilities. We are even more delighted to extend the invitation to four-legged friends so that the whole family can enjoy a day out together. We look forward to welcoming guests for hotel stays soon, with early bookers set to be amongst the first to enjoy the results of our impressive refurbishment.”
At each stage of the reopening, there will be strict measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, including digital thermometers and social distancing.
Barnsdale Hall Hotel is set in a 65-acre parkland of conservation parkland with walking routes, leisure facilities, and various year-round activities.
Barnsdale Hall Hotel’s facilities include conference, event and wedding rooms and the hotel, lodges and apartments.
